Getting Involved

BLOCK CONTACTS & VOLUNTEER POSITIONS

Our precinct is divided into sections, or “blocks,” as we call them. We are always recruiting block contacts for each section! The block contact’s job is to identify potential Democratic voters and help get out the vote at election time. Most block contacts also walk their block to get out the vote. Other volunteers serve as blockwalkers only, or as block contacts only. We will gladly accept the help you are willing and able to give. Our precinct leaders will walk you through the process and provide lots of guidance, support, and camaraderie!

If you are unable to be a block contact or a blockwalker, there are many other ways you can get involved. Volunteers can help with leafleting, registering voters, planning our annual picnic and other events, phone and text banking, and other behind the scenes tasks.

Here is our TC Dems Organizational Chart for the descriptions of the roles we have. If you can serve in any capacity, please fill out the TC Dems Volunteer Interest Form, or reach out to our Organizing Chair.  We would be so pleased to hear from you!

RELATIONAL ORGANIZING THROUGH THE REACH APP

Something any Texas Democrat could do to get involved, right from your armchair, is to use the Reach app to touch base with their own contacts and remind them to vote.

1. Download the Reach Progressive Organizing app via your phone’s App Store

2. Join the Blue Action Texas campaign (key NQJTGQ)

3. Add your neighbors and friends to your network either manually or upload your phone contacts.

Through Reach, you can tag someone with their political affiliation, check if their registration is at the correct address or suspended, and view if they have voted yet during an election cycle. You can text these contacts directly through the app to remind your contacts to vote or see if they need any information from you.
