I want to vote straight D down the ballot. But what about the non-partisan races?
The non-partisan contested races include the mayoral race and boards of trustees for both ACC and AISD. At the polls there will not be a (D) or an (R) beside the candidate names!
Mayor of Austin – all democrats except Bowen.
ACC Board of Trustees –Place 7 has Cole Wilson as the democrat. Both candidates for Place 9 are democrats.
AISD Board of Trustees (At Large Position 8) – all democrats or unknown except Stringer.
What is the gist of the ballot Propositions and what do Democrats support?
Travis County Prop A is a tax increase to fund affordable childcare and children’s programming for low-income families. TCDP’s position is YES on TC Prop A.
AISD Prop A is a tax increase to increase public school funding in our district. TCDP’s position is YES on AISD Prop A.
I want to read more about the candidates. Where can I do that?
The League of Women Voters guide is excellent for this.
How can I help with the effort to elect the democrats?
At this point, an impactful thing to do would be to download the Reach app on your phone, and join the Blue Action Texas campaign (key code is NQJTGQ). The app can match up your phone contacts to the voter rolls. Add your contacts to your network. During early voting, the app will update if an individual has voted (there’s about a day lag) and you can text them directly through the app to remind/encourage them to vote. Check out Reach trainings or attend Reach tech support office hours for more info or help. Relational organizing works!
